3DS Save Tool review by Claudia
Now there are three 3D save tools, just as DSaveManager v0.1, 3DSaveTool v0.2b & 3DAlbum v0.0.3. Let's have a look at this three tools.
DSaveManager v0.1
This tool has been released by crediar.It can back up both DS and 3DS saves over Wifi, but just like other WiFi tools it will only work on a DS or DSLite. In order to make a 3DS game cart fit into the DS/Lite you need to cut off the notch on the corner of the 3DS game cart.DSaveManager v0.1 currently only backs up saves, it can not restore them.
Instructions:
Setup WFC via a game
Change the IP in the dsm.ini to that of the PC running the DSM.exe (Leave a newline at the end of the IP)
Load the DSM.nds on your DS/DSLite, any method should work fine.
Follow the onscreen instructions!
Neither the 3DS card nor the DS/DSLite can be damaged by this, DS cards and 3DS cards are using the same pinout and the same voltage. Only the protocol for reading the ROM differs!
Obviously 3DS cards normally don't fit into a DS. You can either saw off the edge or open the card with a knife and insert the board into a DS card-case.
Also the current libnds fails to correctly detect the savefile size so I added a hack, please report new found IDs when the tool prompts you too(but only for 3DS games!).
3DSaveTool v0.2b
3DSaveTool can be used to find the XOR key used for encryption and use it to encrypt/decrypt EEPROM savefiles of 3DS games.
